The Story

When Ralph Bear was diagnosed with leukemia he was told by an oncologist he would be dead by 65. He was also told there was nothing he could do to strengthen the odds.

More than 14 years later, Ralph has outlived his cancer prognosis and went on to create the idea of Patient Stories to help others in need. What started as the website www.patientstories.com has now evolved into the book: Patient Stories: Coping with Life-Changing Illnesses. A compilation of real-life examples, the book gives the true voice and encounter of people who have been diagnosed with various chronic diseases or illnesses, and what they do on a day-to-day basis to remain healthy. The author gives a first-person narrative for each story that leaves the individuals tone of their experiences.

What started with one man’s vision to keep himself on a healthy track ends with a book, several upcoming books-- each on a specific health topic, and the sincere intent to help other patients discover treatments and behaviors that will help them and thier families better deal with or overcome their prognosis.

Our book contains some of the stories we have been given thus far. Purchase the book and discover what first-person stories resonate with you."
